BEEKEEPER'S MAP
Aaron Reiss, 2011
download: Hi Bill, My first map was published in the Yale Daily News today. I made this map for students who, like me, feel a bit stifled by on-campus living, students who are intimidated by venturing out into the city, and students who just don't know all that New Haven has to offer. My goal for the map is to challenge the idea of New Haven that most students inherit in order to encourage different ways of seeing the city. I want to erase the typical Student’s Path and populate the rest of the city with spaces, locations and events that will draw students out into the city and encourage them to wander and explore. I hope you like it and that you're having a great end to the semester!
Best, Hi Aaron, I really like this map! Not only do I like the graphics (designing in black and white is a skill unto its own), but I really like the goal of getting the newly arrived — like me, for example — out and about in the city. I've been trying to get my head around New Haven in the last few months, and this is a really great help. I'd love to post it on my website, if that's ok with you?
